Photographer of Volcano, Tapiro: photographer of volcanoes
Tapiro, mexican, photographer of volcanoes and designer of these pages, lives in Colima, Colima, México, where he was born. Sergio Velasco (his real name) is a photographer who loves nature, and specially volcanoes. Since 2002 he understood, that he had to take photos of volcano of Colima and that's how started this madness, of the photographer that stays entire nights, alone, in front of the volcanoes, with patience, as a viewer, and photographer in love with landscape.
As a photographer has published in the main newspapers of Colima, in cultural publications and several local magazines, in the magazine Artes de México (Number 57), in the guide of the Regional Museum of Colima *INAH 2003, Calendar of University of Colima *2004, and by the year 2005 he has confirmed, at least two collaborations in scientific publications (one mexican and another international) besides 3 photographic expositions in Colima. Propposals about collaborations are accepted.
His photos have deserved complaints from plastic artists and photographers, and so, controversial comments from some pseudo-scientists and official institutions. Maybe it happens because he shares the mad job of being a photographer with several social and ambientalist resistances and with music (mmhhh, but rock and guitar players aren't normal at all).
Well, his activities less abnormal are related with cultural promotion, graphic design-WEB-marketing, anything associated with comunication (as a realizer of video, documentaries, tv and radio), audio edition, manufacture of frames and artifacts to mount photos.
He has worked for: Canal 11-TV (Public Image and promotion), Congreso del Estado de Colima (1999), Museo Regional de Historia de Colima of INAH (Advertising manager, and cultural events Coordinator, 2000-2003). He collaborates frequenty with cultural institutions like INAH (National Institute of Antropology and History), Secretariat of Culture of Colima and the municipality of Colima.
